What the authorities in Malaga control and check among tourists

The new rules cover four main areas:

  • city cleanliness;

  • noise level control;

  • dress code in public places;

  • responsible use of personal transport.

The leaders of Malaga note that these recommendations will help maintain harmony in

the popular tourist city
and improve the conditions for both guests and local residents.

New requirements for tourists in Spanish Malaga

  1. The main requirement of the campaign is to maintain cleanliness in urban areas. Tourists should use trash bins, avoid littering public places, and treat parks, historical monuments, and streets with respect.

  2. Special attention is paid to noise control. Visitors are encouraged to refrain from loud music and shouting, considering the rest hours of local residents. This section, called 'Do not be noticeable', reminds tourists of the importance of respecting the privacy of locals.

  3. Regarding appearance, the new rules prohibit wearing swimsuits in public places outside of beaches. The section 'Dress fully' is aimed at maintaining appropriate culture in the urban environment.

  4. Another important rule is the prohibition of riding scooters and bicycles on pedestrian paths. This rule is designed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and order in the central areas of the city.

Currently, the authorities in Malaga do not impose fines for violations of these norms, however, the city has experience in implementing serious measures. For example, in 2024, fines were introduced for washing feet and animals in drinking fountains.

Earlier, it was reported that in Greece, tourists

face fines of 1000 euros
for violating the rules.

Thus, the new campaign in Malaga aims to establish greater mutual respect between tourists and local residents. It is evident that the authorities seek not only to improve the quality of life in the city but also to ensure a comfortable rest for guests.
