“I have been participating in the 'Bid for a Break' competition for a long time; it’s really a great competition. I am very happy that my persistence paid off, and we will go to Rome with my beloved wife, Jane,” Mr. Smith said.

“I chose a bid of 8 pence because it’s my wife’s birthday, and it turned out to be a lucky number.”
