NATO Shifts Focus from Russian Rhetoric to Concrete Security Guarantees, Says Mark Rutte.
NATO Secretary General's Statement
According to TSN.ua: During a press conference in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated the alliance is now paying less attention to statements from the Russian side, particularly those from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He emphasized the importance of the ongoing peace process involving the US, Ukraine, and Russia, noting that for some time now, he has not focused on every word coming from Russian officials.
Security Discussions in the Context of Ukraine
The meeting of Alliance defense ministers in Brussels also addressed security issues concerning Ukraine. Rutte pointed out that the final parameters for security guarantees for Ukraine will be established within the framework of the ongoing peace negotiations. He highlighted that the primary guarantee of security remains Ukraine's Armed Forces, which he called the largest regular army in Europe.
Progress in the peace process was noted, with a meeting in Paris last December agreeing on approximately 90–95% of security mechanisms. Rutte expressed hope for the successful conclusion of the negotiations and the achievement of regional stability. This shift in focus comes as the US President last year expressed readiness to participate in shaping security guarantees for Ukraine, underscoring the critical role of international support in the current geopolitical landscape.
Rutte's remarks indicate a change in NATO's approach to Russian statements, which may reflect growing confidence in the region's stability and security.

The involvement of the United States in formulating security guarantees for Ukraine further emphasizes the importance of international backing. The progress in peace talks mentioned by Rutte could represent a significant step toward resolving the conflict and strengthening European security.
