According to Espreso.tv: A survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) between May 7 and June 3, 2026, revealed that 64% of Ukrainians view Europe as a trustworthy partner in supporting Ukraine. In contrast, 56% of respondents believe the United States has grown weary and is pressuring Ukraine to make concessions to Russia. The poll included 1,000 participants from territories under the control of the Ukrainian government.

Key Findings

The results show that 64% of Ukrainians think Europe is providing substantial assistance to Ukraine, while 25% feel Europe is tired and pushing Ukraine toward an unjust peace. Meanwhile, 30% of Ukrainians consider the US to be a reliable ally. It is worth noting that public sentiment toward the US has remained stable since December 2025.

Anton Hrushetskyi, an expert, noted that the positive perception of Europe may be linked to factors such as the EU granting Ukraine a multi-billion euro loan.

“Perceptions of Europe are somewhat more favorable when we ask the question after a similar one about the US,” Hrushetskyi said.
Interestingly, 83% of Ukrainians express a positive view of ordinary Americans, despite the overall impression of the political dynamics between Ukraine and the US.

The survey’s margin of error did not exceed 4.1% for indicators near 50%. This research highlights the complexity of how international partners are perceived amid the current political climate and underscores the importance of European support for Ukraine.

These findings suggest that Ukrainians recognize Europe’s significant role in supporting their country, especially in light of financial aid. At the same time, growing dissatisfaction with the US stance may indicate shifting perceptions of foreign policy, which could affect future relations between Ukraine and its international partners. Such attitudes could play a key role in shaping Ukraine’s foreign policy and determining its strategy for engaging with key allies as the conflict with Russia continues.
