Russian Strike on Chernihiv Region

According to Novyny.live: On June 28, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on the Chernihiv region, causing civilian casualties and damaging infrastructure and homes. Three people were injured in the strikes: a 48-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, while another man sustained injuries but refused medical treatment. This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating attacks on civilian areas across Ukraine.

Infrastructure Damage

The assault caused significant destruction, hitting multiple targets:

  • medical and educational facilities;
  • private houses;
  • vehicles.

One of the most destructive moments came when an FPV drone struck a residential building in the Koriukivka community. In Semenivka, shelling targeted a gas station, while in Ripky community, a 'Geran' type drone hit another fuel station. A house fire broke out in Horodnia following an attack, and in Koriukivka, a drone hit an industrial enterprise.

Throughout the day, Russian forces also continued to strike energy infrastructure in the region. On the night of June 28, they attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones and artillery, wounding two people. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over the past week, Russian forces had struck 15 regions of Ukraine, highlighting the growing intensity of hostile actions across the country.

These attacks come amid rising regional tensions and signal a strategic shift in Russian tactics, with an increased focus on civilian infrastructure. As the strikes spread to more areas, Ukrainian authorities may tighten security and civilian protection measures. The affected regions urgently need restoration and support to ensure the safety and normal life of their residents.
