According to ТСН: At night, Russia carried out a large-scale airstrike on Ukraine, targeting energy and civilian infrastructure.

Details of the attack

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the aggressor used over 650 drones, a significant portion of which were Shahed-type kamikaze drones, as well as more than thirty missiles. As of the morning, an air alert was declared in most regions of Ukraine.

“A massive Russian strike on Ukraine has been ongoing since night — primarily against our energy sector and civilian infrastructure, literally across all infrastructure of life,” emphasized Zelensky.

As a result of the attack, at least 13 regions were affected. Although air defense forces managed to neutralize a significant part of the enemy drones and missiles, some of them still reached their targets. Emergency and repair teams, as well as emergency services, are actively working to eliminate the consequences of these attacks.

Casualties

Unfortunately, there are casualties. In the Kyiv region, a woman was killed as a result of a Russian drone strike, and another person lost their life in Khmelnytskyi. In the Zhytomyr region, an enemy drone hit a residential building, resulting in the death of a four-year-old child.

Call to the international community

The president emphasized that the attack occurred on the eve of Christmas and during negotiations to end the war, indicating the true intentions of the Kremlin.

“Putin cannot accept that killing must stop. This means the world is not pressing enough on Russia,” said Zelensky.

Zelensky called on international partners to increase pressure on Russia, to boost support for Ukraine, particularly in the field of air defense, the supply of weapons, and energy equipment.

“Air defense for Ukraine, funding for the purchase of weapons, supply of energy equipment — these processes must have no days off. Only dedication to the protection of life will help bring closer a just and lasting peace,” emphasized the president.

Detailed data on the consequences of the attack and the operation of air defense are expected to be published after the official reports of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It should be noted that the Russian army launched a massive attack on Ukraine early in the morning, using strike drones and missiles of various types, focusing on energy infrastructure. Emergency electricity outages have been introduced in several regions.
