Metinvest has transferred steel shelters to the front worth at least 300 million UAH - media.
Metinvest has transferred nearly 700 shelters to the Defense Forces
The Metinvest company has already delivered approximately 700 universal shelters to the Defense Forces, which have been named 'steel hideouts'. These underground structures can save lives even during artillery shelling. The internal spaces provide maximum comfort for soldiers' rest. Metinvest is providing these shelters free of charge, although their production cost is 300 million UAH. This information was provided by UP, which visited the shelter production facility.
Metinvest's universal shelters were created in cooperation with the armed forces. They are currently being produced at several secret sites. They have become part of the defensive fortifications in the city of Pokrovsk, where battles are ongoing. Moreover, such shelters are used for constructing underground HQs and the first underground hospital for military personnel in Ukraine.
Shelter Manufacturing
The production of shelters involves work in several areas that operate simultaneously to increase productivity. The creation process engages various specialists, such as sheet metal workers, welders, crane operators, gas cutters, and others. Approximately 165 man-hours of work are needed to create one shelter.
Manufacturing Prospects
Metinvest can significantly increase shelter production, but it needs direct contracts with the Ministry of Defense for this. The first state order is being discussed. Currently, the shelters are undergoing certification, which paves the way for state contracts. Such contracts allow the company to secure jobs for employees and develop technologies.
Advantages of Ukrainian Shelters
Metinvest supplies modular shelters with a number of advantages. Similar products from foreign manufacturers can be much more expensive. This is due to the presence of an integrated production chain, shorter logistics, and cheaper labor in Ukraine.
Company Direction
Metinvest is currently focused on providing free shelters for the army. Since the onset of the conflict, the company has allocated 8 billion UAH to assist Ukraine. Additionally, it has paid taxes and fees to the budgets at all levels in Ukraine.
