Owner Phil Thompson addressed loyal customers through Instagram, informing that the 'Thompson' restaurant in St Albans is closing permanently.

“It is with great sadness that after 12 years, we will be closing the doors to Thompson St Albans.”

“On behalf of myself and the team, I would like to thank everyone who supported and grew with us over the past 12 years.”

“Our regulars became part of the Thompson family, which meant the world. To all our staff past and present, thank you for all your hard work.”

The last day of the restaurant's operation is Saturday, October 18. Guests will be able to enjoy a special 'final menu', which includes seven courses.

Phil dreamed of opening his own restaurant since he worked in his uncle Mick's kitchen. He hails from Essex and comes from a family of chefs, starting his career in London and Hertfordshire.

While working at Auberge du Lac in Brocket Hall, he earned two Michelin stars. Phil realized his dream in November 2013, opening the 'Thompson' restaurant, which replaced the previous Darcy’s. Since then, the establishment became known in the city.

Guests will still have the opportunity to taste the chef's dishes. Phil promotes the concept of home cooking on the restaurant's website.
