Polish Foreign Minister Criticizes Hungary's Stance as a Failure to Support Ukraine.
Poland Alarmed by Hungary's Position
According to UATV: Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has expressed alarm over demands from Hungary, which he views as demonstrating a lack of solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. Sikorski noted that Hungarian authorities are turning public opinion against Ukraine, a development causing profound concern for the Polish government. This criticism highlights a growing rift within the European Union over support for Kyiv.
"I am deeply shocked by the fact that Ukraine is defending itself from the Russian army," emphasized Radosław Sikorski.
He further added: "I expected much greater solidarity with Ukraine from Hungary." These remarks reflect Poland's deep concern regarding Hungary's stance within the context of the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine.
The Situation in Ukraine and the Critical Need for International Support
It is worth recalling that a Russian attack on Ukrainian oil infrastructure occurred on January 27, further underscoring the gravity of the situation. For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has also stressed the vital importance of international support in countering the aggression. The situation remains tense, and calls for unity are becoming increasingly urgent.
The Polish Foreign Minister's statements underscore the critical importance of regional solidarity during Ukraine's protracted war. As a neighboring nation, Poland has a significant stake in regional stability and supporting Ukraine, which influences its foreign policy and relations with other countries like Hungary. Tensions between Poland and Hungary could complicate joint efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis and threaten European unity in confronting Russian aggression.
