The Ministry of Defense reported how many women are on the front line.

More than 70 thousand women serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, as of January 1, 2025, more than 70 thousand women are working in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which over 5.5 thousand are directly on the front line. This is 20% more than in 2022. Melnyk emphasized that the government pays attention to the social protection of these women to ensure their rights and equal opportunities.
Melnyk also stressed that women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine have absolutely equal rights with men to hold positions, career growth, and military ranks.
Furthermore, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukrainian women on International Women's Day and the struggle for women's rights and peace.
It is worth noting that the question of the status of March 8 as a day off and the appropriateness of celebrating it is gaining new significance in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the flower business is at risk, selling seasonal flowers, while jewelry stores are offering significant discounts ahead of March 8.
Currently, the draft law on the cancellation of the March 8 holiday is under consideration in the committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to a survey, nearly 62% of Ukrainians voted for International Women's Day to remain a holiday.
Despite the declining popularity of International Women's Day in recent years, there is still a positive attitude towards this holiday in Ukraine. According to KII, in 2025, 23% of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards March 8.
