Sandu: pro-Russian government in Moldova threatens Ukraine's security.
According to FREEДOM:
Threat of pro-Russian forces in Moldova
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, expressed concern that the rise of pro-Russian forces to power could threaten the independence and security of the country. She also emphasized the potential negative consequences for relations with Ukraine, pointing out that such a situation could lead to Moldova being used in Russia's interests.
Progress under threat
Sandu highlighted that the success of parties supporting pro-Russian sentiments could nullify the achievements made in recent years and call into question Moldova's international authority.
'We will lose the chance to join the EU by 2030. Moldova risks finding itself in a situation where it could be used by Moscow against Ukraine, which would create threats to the safety and security of our citizens,' noted the President of Moldova.
Active resistance to Russian influence
MP Oazu Nantoi stated that Moldova realized the threats associated with hybrid warfare from Russia three years ago. Since then, Chisinau has been actively working to counter Moscow's influence.
This situation in Moldova is under close scrutiny not only within the country but also beyond its borders. The strengthening of pro-Russian sentiments could escalate political tension, as Moldova occupies a strategic position between Europe and Russia. Developments here will have significant consequences not only for Moldova itself but also for the region as a whole, particularly for Ukraine, which is also facing aggression from Russia.
