The mobilization of women is not needed by the army right now: the position of the TCC representative.
According to ТСН: As of today, there is no need for large-scale mobilization of women, as this is not the kind of reinforcement that the Armed Forces of Ukraine critically require.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Poltava Regional TCC and SP, Roman Istomin. He explained that his personal views on the mobilization age may be perceived as the official position of the organization. Therefore, it is important to emphasize the TCC's attitude towards possible changes, rather than just personal assessments. Istomin reminded that the mobilization age is determined by current legislation, and only the state decides who among citizens will stay in the rear and who will serve. According to him, the TCC and SP fulfill their functions in accordance with the law and with the tools provided to them by the state. Thus, regardless of the possibility of making a decision about changing the mobilization age, the recruitment authorities will continue to fulfill their duties.
Mobilization of women
Commenting on the likelihood of mobilizing women, Istomin noted that currently only women in medical and pharmaceutical specialties are subject to mandatory military registration.
He also expressed doubt that women could become a significant reinforcement that would change the course of the war. In his opinion, any decision to expand mobilization will require changes in legislation.
«I have some doubts that women are exactly the reinforcement that the Defense Forces urgently need and that could change the course of the war. Accordingly, before conducting a potential mobilization of women, it is necessary to make amendments to the current legislation of Ukraine,»said Istomin.
He also emphasized that regardless of whether the necessary amendments will be adopted, the TCC will continue to fulfill its obligations as defined by the state.
As a reminder, earlier the representative of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Fedir Venislavsky, confirmed that Ukraine should prepare all citizens, including women and men, for national resistance.
Thus, the issue of mobilizing women remains open and subject to detailed discussion. It is important to consider that legislative changes may take time, and the current position of the authorities reserves the right to choose how to act in the ongoing war.
