A son of a famous Odesa artist died in the Donbas: he fought as part of the RDK

According to ТСН: A twenty-four-year-old Tymofiy (Eney) Anufriyev, the son of Odesa conceptual artist Serhiy Anufriyev and art curator Kateryna Chala, died in the Donbas.

The Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), in which he served as an assault soldier, reported this tragedy.

In the RDK, it was noted that Anufriyev participated in many combat operations, including assaults, sweeps, and capturing prisoners, and was awarded the medal "For Contribution to the Military Intelligence of Ukraine." The organization emphasized that he "lived and died as a true knight and poet."

"An exceptionally intelligent and educated, open and kind person, he sought to benefit the Corps not only in battle but also beyond it. Eney was familiar with the cultural bohemia of the two capitals from childhood, but did not belong to the detached part of the artistic elite that exists apart from reality; on the contrary, he passionately cared for the fate of his people."

Tymofiy Anufriyev was born in Moscow, grew up in Odesa, and had Russian citizenship. Before the full-scale invasion of Russia, he studied at the philosophy faculty of a university in St. Petersburg. After February 24, 2022, he left Russia, first moving to Serbia, and later joined the RDK, which fights on the side of Ukraine.

"He was disgusted by the fact that many around him in the Russian Federation pretended that nothing was happening. Therefore, he made the decision to first leave Russia, and then join the Russian Volunteer Corps. 'There is always a choice,' Eney believed, and made a choice dictated by honor."

Tymofiy's acquaintances also reported his death. The head of the Odesa community of Rodnovers "Mokosha" Valentyne Dolhochub described him as "a poet, philosopher, and warrior" who "made his choice with honor." Cultural manager and curator Anna Tsyba noted that the war "took away his future from him, and from us the opportunity to discuss."

The father of the deceased, Serhiy Anufriyev, is one of the key figures in Odesa art of the 1980s. He participated in the Moscow conceptualism movement, worked in the Kyiv squat "Paris Commune," and was a member of the groups "Cloud Commission" and "Tartu Society." From 1998 to 2000 in Odesa, he was involved in the activities of the association "New Art," the countercultural magazine "PLІ," and the creation of the literary school "Odecadanсe."

The tragedy of Tymofiy Anufriyev's death reflects not only a personal loss for the family but also the broader impact of war on the younger generation. His journey from culture to war illustrates how difficult it is to reconcile art and reality in times of global conflicts. In Ukraine, where young people so often become victims of war, Eney's story serves as a reminder of the importance of choice, even in the hardest times.
