In Kherson region, five children fell through the ice

In Kherson region, five children fell through thin ice. This was reported by the State Emergency Service.

According to preliminary information, two children have been rescued. Rescuers and divers are searching for the other three.

Four children who were walking on the frozen river fell through the ice. A 16-year-old girl saw this. She rushed to help the children and fell into the water too. Fortunately, she and one of the girls were pulled out by caring bystanders. The girls are suffering from severe hypothermia. They are currently receiving necessary medical assistance.

However, the remaining children – a girl and two boys – are still being searched for, the youngest is only nine years old.

Dangerous thickness of the ice

The State Emergency Service explained: several frosty nights have covered water bodies with a thin layer of ice, but its thickness is still far from being safe.

Be careful! The ice on water bodies is extremely dangerous right now. Do not go on the ice alone and do not allow children to do this: tell them about the threat! Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Prokudin also urged parents to talk to their children and convince them that 'this is not a game, but a deadly danger.'

Recall that in Bilozerka on February 12, a person's body was found in the pond of the village of Samgorodok. Rescuers recovered the deceased who had been missing since February 4. This is stated in a report by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Kyiv region.

The deceased was a local resident born in 1949. Rescuers once again warn: going on ice is deadly dangerous.
