The official was detained after demanding $4,000 from a man liable for military service who was being sought by authorities. The detained official has been formally notified of suspicion for extortion and bribe-taking. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of five to ten years. Additionally, a 71-year-old resident of the Volyn region is implicated for allegedly helping the conscript evade service by fleeing abroad.
