Two officials from Odessa are on trial.
Two officials from the Odessa City Council will be prosecuted for receiving improper benefits during the procurement of defense products. This information was provided by the Odessa Regional Administration.
The prosecutors of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office have submitted an indictment to the court against the head of one of the departments of the Odessa City Council and his deputy for abuse of power and false information in official documents (part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 364, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the city council officials organized a scheme for embezzling budget funds allocated for ensuring territorial defense and volunteer formations in Odessa.
The accused purchased tactical clothing and ballistic plates for military units at prices twice as high as the market price. The total amount of overpayment amounted to 3.9 million hryvnias.
The deputy head also signed a delivery note for goods that were not actually received. By doing so, he provided false information in official documents.
The prosecution has prepared a civil lawsuit for compensation for the damages incurred.
An indictment has also been submitted to the court against the director of the company that supplied the metal plates for providing false information in official documents (part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Let us remind you that Odessa law enforcement officers clarified the role of a 54-year-old resident of the Odessa region in the illegal crossing of the state border for three individuals. For his services, the subject charged 8,000 dollars from each person.
