Children in Lviv Region Played with Pneumatic Gun, Which Shot a Four-Year-Old Girl.
In Sambir, Lviv Region, two minor children discovered a pneumatic gun in their grandmother's shed. Due to an unfortunate incident, a four-year-old girl suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital. An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of this incident. This was reported by the police of the Lviv region.
On December 28, in Sambir, two small children - a six-year-old boy and his four-year-old cousin - found a pneumatic gun in their grandmother's shed and started playing with it.
Unexpectedly, the weapon fell, and as a result, the girl suffered a head injury. She was sent to the hospital, but her life is not in danger.
The perpetrators removed the pneumatic gun and sent it for examination. They are conducting a criminal investigation under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - improper care for children or a person under guardianship. The punishment for this crime includes imprisonment for a term of 2 to 5 years. The investigation is still ongoing.

This is not the first incident involving children this month. Earlier in Lviv, an eighth-grade boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. The police confirmed that a 14-year-old student sustained a chest injury due to an accidental shot from a pump-action shotgun. A criminal proceeding has been opened under Article 264 of the Criminal Code - improper storage of firearms or ammunition. The maximum penalty for this article is imprisonment for up to 3 years.
