Smuggling Ring for Military-Age Men Dismantled
According to Novyny.live: A 30-year-old resident of the Lviv community has been arrested for organizing a channel to smuggle men of conscription age out of Ukraine. The suspect was detained on February 16 at a gas station in Vynnyky, Lviv region.
The scheme's organizer charged clients $13,000 to arrange travel to the Zakarpattia region. For an additional $700, clients could pay to bypass military checkpoints. The suspect has been formally charged with facilitating the illegal crossing of Ukraine's state border. Since Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukrainian men of military age are generally prohibited from leaving the country.
Risks and Dangers of Illegal Smuggling
This case highlights the severe risks and legal violations involved in smuggling conscription-age men, a particularly serious crime under Ukraine's martial law. Such activities not only undermine national law but also pose a direct threat to state security during wartime.
The arrest marks a significant step in combating illegal migration and the smuggling of individuals eligible for military service. Authorities continue to implement measures to detect and dismantle such schemes to prevent the unlawful departure of citizens.
