Ecological anomaly in Odesa region: water in the pond has turned pink

According to inkorr.com: In the village of Zherebkove, which is part of the Ananiiv community in the Odesa region, an unusual event has occurred: the water in the local pond has turned pink, and dead fish have washed up on the shore. This was reported by

Glavkom
citing the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.

Inspection of the pond

On October 13, 2025, specialists of the State Environmental Inspectorate conducted an inspection of pond No. 3 in Zherebkove. They collected water samples for further analysis and sent them to the Ukrainian Scientific Center for Ecology of the Sea and the Basin Water Resources Management of the Black Sea and lower Danube rivers.

Mass fish death

It should be noted that mass fish deaths were also recorded in the Plosk River in Khmelnytskyi on August 22. This prompted the local authorities to turn to law enforcement agencies. According to Deputy Mayor Mykola Vavryshchuk, a possible source of water pollution with chemicals was identified, which could have led to the death of fish. Currently, laboratory water research is underway, and the Khmelnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office has launched a criminal investigation into this incident.

Ecological phenomena in Ukraine

Abnormal ecological phenomena, such as pink water and mass fish deaths, are being observed in Ukraine. These events compel government bodies and environmental organizations to conduct thorough inspections and studies to determine the causes of these phenomena and prevent their recurrence in the future.

The discovered cases of abnormal water coloration and fish deaths raise legitimate concerns among residents and experts. The collected water samples will help clarify the causes of these ecological problems and whether they affect the health of the population and the region's ecosystem. Only comprehensive studies will allow for necessary measures to be taken to improve the situation.
