Captain of foreign ship wanted to import 350 tons of contraband: he faces prison.
The captain of a foreign ship tried to import 350 tons of undeclared diesel fuel into Ukraine. However, customs officials in Odesa discovered this attempt, and now the seafarer faces imprisonment.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the captain of the Romanian tanker planned to hide from customs control and illegally import diesel fuel into Ukraine. After arriving at the Izmail seaport, the individual submitted documents for 2150 tons of the product, but during the inspection, it was found that the import was planned for 2500 tons of fuel.
The measured amount of diesel fuel confirmed this quantity, as conducted by customs officials.
What punishment awaits
The actions of the individual entail a sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison under Article 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the smuggling of excise goods.
It is worth noting that previously there were instances when residents of Odesa attempted to transport weapon parts in their trunk and export unique antique beads.
Ukrainian customs officials uncovered the attempt to smuggle undeclared diesel fuel by the captain of a foreign ship. The individual faces serious imprisonment for violating customs regulations that threaten the country's economy.
