Honey from Past Harvests on Sale at Odesa's Cheremushky Market, with Acacia Varieties Priced at 350 Hryvnias.
Honey Sales at Cheremushky Market
According to Novyny.live: At Odesa's Cheremushky market, vendors are selling honey from last year's harvest and even older stock, alongside other apiary products. Prices range from 150 to 350 hryvnias per jar, depending on the variety. For instance, a half-liter jar of acacia honey costs 350 hryvnias, while a full liter is priced at 700. This scarcity is due to a poor harvest; beekeepers gathered almost no acacia honey in 2025, severely limiting its supply. This situation highlights how local agricultural yields directly impact market availability and pricing.
Other Honey Varieties and Apiary Goods
Beyond acacia honey, other types are available. Wildflower honey sells for 150 hryvnias per jar, while linden and buckwheat varieties are priced at 250 hryvnias each. May honey is available for 200 hryvnias. Propolis candles are also for sale, costing 150 hryvnias for a pack of ten.
'Our acacia honey is only from the 2024 harvest.' - Tetiana, vendor
She explained that natural beeswax is used to produce creams, balms, various ointments, and candles, as well as honey scrubs, soap, and lip care balms. 'When bees seal the honeycomb, they add many beneficial substances to it,' Tetiana added.
Given the limited supply of acacia honey following the unsuccessful 2025 season, prices for this product are likely to remain high in the near term. The situation at Odesa's honey market reflects broader trends of reduced yields in beekeeping, which may affect the availability and cost of natural products in the region. Consumers should anticipate potential changes in the assortment and pricing of honey and other apiary goods.
