A man transporting illegal amber was detained in Rivne region

In the village of Dovgovolia, Varash district of Rivne region, police detained a man who was transporting illegal amber. This was reported by the Rivne police.

The vehicle carrying the contraband was stopped due to traffic rule violations. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found a bag of amber weighing almost 70 kilograms. This stone was hidden under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Police seized the stones, which will be sent for examination

A criminal proceeding has been initiated for the transportation of illegal amber under Article 240-1, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to this law, the penalties include a fine of 3 to 10 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or imprisonment for a period of 2-3 years, or deprivation of liberty for the same term.
