A surgeon from Frankivsk died in the war. Let's remember Myroslav Debenko.
Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Myroslav Debenko.
A military surgeon from Ivano-Frankivsk, Myroslav Debenko, died in the war - after the start of the big war, he returned from abroad, where he worked as a maxillofacial surgeon, and went to defend his land. His death was reported on the website of the Ivano-Frankivsk Medical Professional College, where the warrior studied and worked.
Myroslav Debenko comes from a medical dynasty. His mother is a teacher of nursing in dermatology and venereology at the Ivano-Frankivsk Medical Professional College, and his grandfather, Hryhoriy Havrysh, was a former director of the medical school.
"Myroslav chose medicine for himself. In 2009, he graduated with honors from the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University and was devoted to his profession. In the 2012-2013 academic year, he worked as a lecturer in surgery," the college reported.
After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he returned from abroad, where he worked as a maxillofacial surgeon in his own clinic, and went to defend his land.
In the army, he was a captain of the medical service.
On November 17, 2022, President Zelensky awarded Myroslav Debenko the Order of Danylo Halytskyi.
Myroslav Debenko died as a result of a missile strike in the Luhansk region.
In September 2024, he began to study English more deeply, recalls his teacher, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Business Communications, Markiyan Tkhir.
The teacher said that Myroslav had plans to start writing a book about his military experience.
"He could have several difficult operations in one day, sleepless nights in which he saved not one thousand people. As Myron said, after 19:00 everything just began. How he withstood all that, I have no idea. So, I suggested he play with Chat GPT, showing how artificial intelligence could help guide him in writing memoirs. I told him to simply add specific examples from life," writes Markiyan Tkhir.
Here's the text Chat GPT generated about the military doctor Myroslav: "Doctor Myroslav worked in a hospital near the frontline, where he took in wounded Ukrainian soldiers every day. Russian troops did not stop shelling positions, bombs, and missiles fell almost incessantly, and artillery and mortars sounded like a constant backdrop. The ward was filled with different emotions. Myroslav was used to seeing despair on the faces of those who had lost friends or those facing amputations. But he also witnessed joyful moments when soldiers, despite all odds, managed to return to life. Volunteers came to the hospital every day, bringing support in the form of medicine, food, and warm words. This gave hope to the wounded, and Doctor Myroslav optimistically told them: 'The war will end, we will endure.' Deaths were part of this brutal conflict, but hope lived in everyone who passed through the hospital's walls. Myroslav believed the end of the war would surely come, along with victory."
According to the teacher, Myron was impressed by the AI generation and said that the text was very close to reality.
"Yesterday (post dated October 15 - "Glavkom") our "earthly angel" became a real angel. Russian missiles hit the target. We can only believe that Doctor Myroslav's words were prophetic," added Markiyan Tkhir.
Myroslav Debenko's girlfriend, Viktoriya Bilytska, announced his death on her Facebook page. She is an anesthesiologist and is also currently in service. Together with her beloved Myroslav, she saved wounded soldiers.
"You saved thousands of our defenders, were the most cautious among us, but nothing saved you... we couldn't protect you... I used to often tell you, that I embrace with my heart. Now you have become the pain that has ingrown into every cell of my body. Let it stay. I will write to you, hoping that something exists on the other side and that you are reading it. Because I don't feel my heart," wrote Viktoriya Bilytska.
"Glavkom" joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the fight for their Homeland. We remember those who died at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of remembrance, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of the enemy's attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
