NABU Targets Yuriy Ivanushchenko in New Sanctions Request
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has formally requested sanctions against Yuriy Ivanushchenko, a former lawmaker from the Party of Regions. He is under investigation for fraudulent dealings involving land at the 'Stolychnyi' market near Kyiv and is believed to maintain financial ties with Russia. Investigators have discovered that Ivanushchenko holds a Russian passport, further highlighting his connections to the aggressor state.
Investigation Details
According to the probe, the land scheme linked to Ivanushchenko involves the illegal privatization of 18 hectares of state-owned land. The market value of this land exceeds 160 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $4.4 million). The total land area where the 'Stolychnyi' market is situated spans over 150 hectares. Plots were sold through sham transactions, pointing to systemic violations throughout the process.
The investigation has implicated multiple individuals, including the former deputy, his controlled entities, a developer, and a former head of the State Geocadastre. NABU continues to uncover corruption and bribery cases across Ukraine, underscoring the need to dismantle corrupt schemes that harm the state and society.
This case highlights the severity of corruption schemes in Ukraine, particularly in land-related matters. The involvement of high-profile figures and systemic breaches in privatization processes underscores the urgent need for greater oversight and transparency in land transactions. The situation also reflects the critical role of international cooperation in fighting corruption, given that the suspect has ties to a country designated as an aggressor against Ukraine.
NABU remains committed to exposing corruption and bribery in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of tackling corrupt practices that damage both the state and the public interest.
