Russians are trying to turn Ostriv into a gray zone: what this means for Kherson

If the situation develops successfully, the Russians will secure their positions and will be able to use this situation for propaganda. This was stated by military expert and former SBU employee Ivan Stupak during the Day.LIVE broadcast.

Attacks on Ostriv

The attacks on the bridge from the left bank of the Dnieper towards the Ostriv area aim at gradually pushing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) out of their positions. Russian troops are using tactics previously employed by Ukrainian forces during the liberation of Kherson - destroying crossings to force the enemy to retreat.

If enemy troops succeed, the Ostriv microdistrict could become a 'gray zone' from which the AFU would not be able to fire on the occupiers' positions. Ivan Stupak warns that the Russians may use this for their propaganda.

The military expert emphasized that the situation with attacks on the Ostriv microdistrict in Kherson could have serious consequences that will impact security and the geopolitical situation in the region. The expulsion of the AFU from their positions may create significant obstacles for Ukrainian forces and contribute to the strengthening of the influence of Russian invaders in this area.
