They Won't Accept 50 and 100 Dollars: Ukrainians May Face Problems When Exchanging Currency.

Ukrainian citizens have been informed about potential issues with exchanging 50 and 100 dollar bills. According to the Zn.ua website, a complicated situation has arisen in Turkey with these banknotes due to an increase in counterfeiting.

The problem is widespread in the largest cities of the country, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Alanya, where counterfeit bills have been actively used for six weeks now. Additional difficulties arise from the need to upgrade equipment for money verification.

The situation with dollars in Turkey has turned out to be more serious than initially thought. Exchange offices are refusing to accept even genuine dollars with correct serial numbers. Official institutions, such as the Ministry of Finance and the Banking Regulatory Authority (BDDK), are not commenting on the situation.

It is worth noting that Turkey has strict legislation that imposes severe punishment (from 2 to 12 years in prison) for counterfeiting money.

It should also be mentioned that many countries around the world are implementing stricter currency restrictions, especially for transactions involving US dollars. Governments are increasingly imposing limits on currency transactions and are tightening requirements for the condition of banknotes.
