Nearly 1000 climbers stranded on Everest: large-scale rescue operation underway.
Thousands stranded on Everest due to snowstorm
According to The Sun: About a thousand people are trapped on Mount Everest due to a powerful snowstorm.
A large-scale rescue operation has started today to reach the camps at an altitude of nearly 16,000 feet above sea level.
AFPLocal residents and rescue teams are deployed to assist in clearing snow and opening roads.
Dangerous conditions have destroyed some climbers' tents, while others have suffered from hypothermia due to low temperatures.
No fatalities have been confirmed so far, although some tourists have already been evacuated.
The snowfall has been ongoing since Friday evening until Saturday.
In connection with this, ticket sales and access to the Everest tourist zone have been halted since Saturday evening.
In Nepal, bordering India, heavy rains have caused landslides and flash floods.
These weather conditions have caused chaos, blocking roads and washing away bridges.
Around 350 tourists have already been rescued and relocated to safety.
According to police reports, at least 47 people have died in the country since Friday.
An additional thirty-five people were victims of separate landslides in the eastern district of Ilam, which also borders India.
Nine people are considered missing after being swept away by water, and three others have died from lightning strikes in other parts of the country.
This is not the first time that brave tourists have found themselves stranded on Everest. In 2010, about 2000 tourists and their companions spent five days in a small village at an altitude of over 9000 feet due to storm conditions.
The situation on Everest remains tense as rescue operations continue. Weather conditions remain unpredictable, and every minute counts for those trapped. Authorities urge all tourists to be cautious and monitor weather forecasts before planning their trips to the mountains.
