Polish Police: Crime Among Foreigners Decreased

The Polish police announced alarming statistics regarding crime among foreigners for 2024. According to law enforcement, the total number of detained foreign citizens amounted to 16,437, which is slightly less compared to the previous year.

According to information published by RMF FM, the most offenses were committed by Ukrainian citizens – 9,753 detentions. Among the most common violations by Ukrainians are:

  • driving a vehicle while intoxicated (2,943 cases);
  • theft (930 cases);
  • fraud (461 cases).

Ukrainians Lead in Number of Detentions

The second place in the anti-rating was occupied by citizens of Georgia with 1,780 detentions. Georgian citizens were most often prosecuted for theft, drunk driving, and drug possession. In third place were citizens of Belarus – 1,122 detentions, mainly for drunk driving, theft, and bribery.

Drunk Driving - The Most Common Offense

According to the Chief Police Headquarters of Poland, driving under the influence remains the most common offense among foreigners – 4,214 cases. There were also 2,055 thefts and 1,899 crimes related to drugs recorded.

In response to the situation, the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, announced the implementation of stricter measures. 'Foreigners who commit crimes in Poland will be deported,' emphasized the head of the government.

By his order, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice must develop an operational plan to combat crime among foreigners, the practical implementation of which is expected soon.

It also became known that Ukrainians are massively leaving Poland for Germany.
