Lumo will launch a direct line between London and Glasgow. The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has already approved this route, which will run between London King's Cross station and Glasgow Queen Street. Previously, this route was only available via Avanti West Coast, where prices were significantly higher. Now Lumo, operating between Edinburgh and London, offers a much more affordable alternative for travelers.
Buy Tickets in Advance
If you book tickets in advance, you can purchase them for just £19.90. On weekdays, two northbound and one southbound service are scheduled. There will also be one service in each direction on Sundays. Final prices and the schedule for the new Glasgow route have not yet been confirmed, so it's important to keep an eye out for the best deals.
Additional Routes
Moreover, several new Lumo routes to Stirling, Newcastle, and Hull have been approved.
Stephen Tobin, director of strategy, policy, and reform at ORR, said: “The approval of these additional services will open up new opportunities for connections on the East Coast.”
Lumo started its operations in October 2021, offering an environmentally friendly mode of transport with fully electric trains and affordable fares. The company has been compared to budget airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair, as their most expensive tickets are relatively inexpensive, there are baggage restrictions, and there are no first-class or buffet services.
Not long ago, Lumo announced plans to launch a new direct service between Scotland's central city and London by spring 2026. This route will connect London Euston with Stirling, stopping in several cities.

The Railway Advisory Group also plans a series of new routes, including the northwest of England, with possible stations in Manchester and Rochdale by 2027.
The new connection between London and Glasgow launched by Lumo is an important step in the development of budget rail transport in the UK. It not only reduces travel costs for passengers but also promotes sustainable development of transport infrastructure. With low fares, the new route can become a convenient and economical solution for many travelers on the East Coast.
