Ukraine’s Air Defense Shoots Down 154 Out of 178 Drones in Overnight Attack.
Massive Drone Strike Repelled
According to Novyny.live: On March 17, 2023, Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, deploying 178 attack drones. Ukrainian air defense units proved highly effective, intercepting and destroying 154 of those unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to reports, 22 Russian drones successfully struck targets across 12 different locations. Tragically, two people were injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of the bombardment. Additionally, near a terminal in Zaporizhzhia, eight individuals sustained injuries from the attack.
This latest barrage once again highlights the persistent threat posed by Russian aggression, while also demonstrating the resilience and capability of Ukraine’s defensive forces.
Conflict Continues to Escalate
The overnight assault underscores the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the critical need to sustain and upgrade Ukraine’s air defense systems. Despite repeated enemy attempts to inflict damage, the high number of downed drones reflects the improving training and effectiveness of Ukrainian military personnel.
Such repeated attacks endanger civilians and critical infrastructure, reinforcing the urgent requirement for international assistance to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
