Overnight Drone Blitz: 133 Russian UAVs Target Ukraine, Scoring 20 Hits Across 11 Sites.
Fallout from Russia's March 19 Drone Assault on Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In a large-scale aerial offensive launched during the night of March 19, Russian forces deployed 133 attack drones against Ukraine. The unmanned aerial vehicles were launched from multiple locations, including Oryol, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Hvardiiske in Crimea.
By 8:00 AM, Ukraine's air defense systems had successfully intercepted or neutralized 109 of the incoming drones. Despite these efforts, 20 enemy UAVs managed to strike their targets across 11 different locations. Additionally, debris from downed drones fell at seven other sites, highlighting both the ferocity of the assault and its impact on infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that the country may soon face a shortage of missiles for its air defense systems.
The March 19 attack ranks among the largest drone strikes in recent weeks, underscoring Russia's growing reliance on unmanned systems to intensify its aggression. This escalation places further strain on Ukraine's already overburdened air defense network, which is struggling to maintain adequate coverage amid limited resources.
As threats mount and supplies dwindle, securing advanced air defense systems and munitions has become an increasingly urgent priority for Ukraine.
