Germany will move troops and Patriot air defense systems closer to Ukraine.
Germany will deploy Patriot missile batteries on Polish territory
Germany plans to position two Patriot missile battery systems on Polish territory. This is reported by the monitoring project German Aid to Ukraine. Approximately 200 German soldiers will also be redeployed to the country. This is done to protect the logistics hub in Poland, which is essential for supporting Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression.
The idea of protecting logistics for supplying weapons to Ukraine belongs to Germany, which plays a key role in this. Plans to deploy Patriot air defense systems in Poland became known as early as the end of 2024.
“This means that German troops are returning to Poland for this task after a break of more than a year, as they had already been temporarily deployed in Zamość after the strike on November 15, 2022, which resulted in the death of two Polish citizens,” the article states.
The role of Germany and Norway in defending Poland and Ukraine
This move by Germany is not isolated, as Norway has already deployed its forces managing the NASAMS fire unit, as well as four F-35 fighter jets at the Polish airport Rzeszów-Jasionka in December 2024.
German troops provide assistance in defending Poland and Ukraine
In addition to securing the supply of military equipment to Ukraine from Poland using modern air defense systems, German troops will also ensure new logistical tasks. The Bundeswehr will provide an Airbus A330 for the entire year to perform air refueling tasks.
It is worth noting that the Navy revealed changes in the opponent's behavior.
