According to ТСН: Germany has made a significant contribution to supporting Ukraine by transferring over 160 million euros to the Energy Support Fund.

As noted by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk, this amount became the largest one-time funding since the establishment of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

In December 2025, the Fund received 245 million euros in new contributions. Apart from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany also transferred 3 million euros through the KfW development bank.

The Effectiveness of International Assistance

Mykola Kolisnyk emphasized that the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, which is subordinate to the Secretariat of the Energy Community, remains one of the most powerful tools of international assistance for the Ukrainian fuel and energy sector. The funds are used to purchase equipment for energy companies and restore infrastructure after attacks.

“In conditions of continuous and targeted attacks by Russia on Ukrainian energy, one of the Ministry's priorities is cooperation with partners on replenishing equipment for repair and restoration works,” noted the Deputy Minister.

He also added that only in December, during a series of high-level international meetings, Ukraine received confirmations from partners regarding systematic and long-term support.

“The intensity of international assistance must be comparable to the intensity of enemy attacks. The supply of necessary equipment must match the pace of enemy attacks,” emphasized Kolisnyk.

It was previously reported that Russia is trying to exhaust the resources of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, which remain the basis of the country's energy resilience. To avoid systemic emergencies at nuclear units, measures must be taken, including implementing power outages.

It was also reported that Russian shelling of critical infrastructure has led to power outages in many regions of Ukraine.

The assistance of international partners in funding Ukraine's energy needs is extremely important, especially amid constant attacks. The Ukrainian government continues to actively work on attracting resources for the restoration of the energy infrastructure and strengthening the country's resilience under aggression. As Kolisnyk emphasized, enterprises require better equipment supplies to adapt to new challenges.
