Kyiv residents are spending the night in damaged homes: when will the restoration begin

Residents of Kyiv continue to spend the night in damaged apartments that were affected by the Russian attack on July 31. However, it is still unknown whether the buildings are in satisfactory condition.

A resident of the building shared this information with News.LIVE journalist Anna Syryik.

Are the destroyed houses being restored

During a meeting with the authorities regarding the houses destroyed and damaged by the Russian attack, Kyiv residents mentioned that they have not even had their windows boarded up with plywood until now, and according to weather forecasts, it will soon start to rain.

One woman explained that her granddaughter's apartment was destroyed in the attack, so the 22-year-old girl is forced to live with friends.

The residents have written a collective address to the Kyiv City State Administration and the District Administration and are collecting signatures to obtain compensation and an expert assessment.

The director of the Kyiv Expertise Institute, Mykhailo Khoroshevskyi, reported that the expert assessment of the destroyed building in the Sviatoshynskyi district will cost between 165,000 and 225,000 UAH, and a tender also needs to be conducted.

The head of the Sviatoshynskyi District Administration, Heorhiy Zantarii, informed News.LIVE that as a result of the attack, 30 houses were damaged, two were severely affected, one was partially destroyed, and another had cracks in load-bearing structures.

According to him, in the next two weeks, the management company will work on the sites of the Russian attacks that occurred on July 31, cleaning up construction debris, dismantling rubble, and boarding up windows with plastic and plywood.

'Some houses are already completely covered with plastic, while some are not yet... We need to wait for the decisions of the relevant commissions, and after that, we will decide what to do with these houses', he explained.

The authorities are also seeking charitable organizations that could help the victims.

In Kyiv, residents of damaged houses continue to experience the aftermath of the Russian attack, actively interacting with local authorities and seeking assistance for the restoration of their living spaces.
