Zelensky discussed army technology with Fedorov: new solutions in a week

According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Mykhailo Fedorov, who is expected to be appointed Minister of Defense instead of the Minister of Digital Transformation, to discuss new formats of work in this position.

Zelensky shared information about the meeting on his social networks, stating:

"The main principle is that the technology of our defense must preserve the lives of our soldiers. Russia has a significant advantage in this war, namely the ability to exert pressure with the scale of strikes, the scale of assaults on Ukraine. We must and should respond with a more active application of technologies, a faster development of new types of weapons, and new tactics."

The President also emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has been and remains an active source of innovations for Ukraine's defense sector, particularly in the development of the weapons manufacturing market, use of drones, and modern communication.

Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine remains committed to diplomacy and aims to end the war as soon as possible, but noted that Russia is dragging out aggression, so it is necessary to actively counter this by implementing cutting-edge technologies and transforming the defense sector.

Mykhailo Fedorov, in turn, promised that within a week he would present the necessary solution projects.

The President expressed hope that Parliament would support the appointment of Fedorov as Minister of Defense:

"Today, Mykhailo reported on how various areas of modernization of Ukraine's defense sector are already being implemented. Technological solutions are already working. In particular, as of December 2025, 35 thousand eliminated occupiers have been verified and confirmed on video, 30 thousand confirmed hits in November, and 26 thousand in October. It is clear that technologies are working effectively. The supply of drones to the troops is clearly increasing. We are preparing new formats to strengthen the drone component of our defense."

It should be noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed Mykhailo Fedorov to become the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

For his part, Denys Shmyhal, who has been serving as head of the Ministry of Defense since July 2025, was offered by the President to head the Ministry of Energy.

Earlier, Zelensky appointed a new head of the President's Office instead of the dismissed Andriy Yermak. The new head is former GUR chief Kyrylo Budanov.

These changes in the government reflect the President's intentions to optimize the defense structure and adapt it to modern challenges. The appointment of Fedorov could be an important step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capability, especially amid ongoing aggression from Russia. All eyes are now focused on how the new Minister will implement technological innovations into the country's military strategy.
