U.S. President Donald Trump announced a possible meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week in Washington.
This was stated during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba at the White House.
According to Trump, he intends to discuss the issue of rare earth minerals in Ukraine with the Ukrainian leader. The American president emphasized that he would like to receive 'an equivalent amount of something' in exchange for U.S. support. 'We would like them to level it out,' he noted.
Speaking about the war in Ukraine, Trump stated: 'I would like to see it end, just from a human standpoint... I would like it to end. It’s a senseless war.'
Answering a question about a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said that 'it’s possible' and he has 'always had good relationships' with the Russian leader. He also reiterated his claim that Russia would not have started the war if he were president.
Recall that Zelensky outlined the conditions for negotiations with Putin and commented on Trump's plan for ending the war.
