95 Ukrainian Defenders Released from Enemy Captivity

Today, the Coordination Headquarters on Prisoner Affairs announced that another 95 Ukrainian defenders have been released. All of them are returning home after receiving “sentences” from the judicial system of the aggressor country. In particular, 28 individuals were sentenced to long terms, and 20 individuals to life imprisonment for defending their own land. The headquarters expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for supporting the exchange.

Released from captivity are national guardsmen, sailors, Armed Forces soldiers, border guards, and representatives of other units of the Security and Defense Forces. Some of the released have serious illnesses and consequences of severe injuries, as well as significant weight loss due to torture and inadequate nutrition. This exchange was the 58th of its kind, and up to this point, 3767 individuals have been freed through it.

Previously, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the prisoner exchange and noted that 95 Ukrainians returned home. On October 18, human rights activist Maksym Butkevych, who was in Russian captivity, was also released.

Additionally, the bodies of 501 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation efforts.
