On Wednesday, July 23, there was already the ninth exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and Russia according to the agreements in Istanbul.
This was reported by the press service of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on Telegram.A group of defenders with injuries and serious illnesses returned from Russian captivity. Among the liberated were servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fighters of the State Border Service, soldiers of the National Guard, and fighters of the National Police of Ukraine. In addition to them, there were also officers among the released. Some of the released warriors were captured during the defense of Mariupol and spent more than three years in captivity. The last defender of Snake Island, who was a fighter of the State Border Service of Ukraine, was also released from captivity. The youngest of the liberated defenders is 27 years old, while the oldest is 66. The released fighters fought in various directions, such as Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv. 'The liberated defenders will undergo necessary medical examinations, receive assistance with physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as all due payments for the entire time spent in captivity,' the message states. It should be recalled that on July 23, Ukraine and the Russian Federation conducted an exchange of prisoners of war. This concerns the seriously ill and severely wounded. Earlier, a new digital tool was launched in Ukraine that allows for the transmission of important information about those who still remain in captivity.
