Russia has increased shelling of Ukraine by 1.5 times: 70% of strikes are on civilian infrastructure.
The Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, Aksana Filipishina, stated that since June, Russian shelling has sharply increased. According to her, the occupiers mainly target civilian infrastructure.
Filipishina shared this during the Morning.LIVE broadcast on Friday, August 1.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
Filipishina noted that the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, in coalition with other NGOs, has established the 'Tribunal for Putin' coalition since the beginning of the full-scale war. They are documenting Russia's war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
'I can truly state that throughout June, we have already observed a spike in shelling from the RF. July is a continuation of this growing scale of shelling from Russia. Since June, we have seen an increase of one and a half times. Civilian infrastructure is mostly affected.'
According to her, 70% of all damages after RF attacks are civilian infrastructure. This includes residential buildings, medical facilities, educational institutions, and so on.
Filipishina hopes that this does not go unnoticed.
'From the statements, we also see calls from other states to increase support for Ukraine despite the crisis affecting European countries.'
It is worth recalling that throughout July, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with 6,262 aerial targets.
On August 1, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin named Moscow's conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has already reacted to his statement.
During the broadcast of the television program, the representative of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union emphasized the increase in Russian shelling of Ukraine, noting the main facilities that were affected by civilian shelling. She also expressed hope for support for Ukraine from the international community during this difficult time.Read also
