Price Collapse of Cucumbers in Ukraine by 42%: What Awaits the Market Next.

The current Ukrainian market for greenhouse cucumbers is experiencing a price decline. The EastFruit project reports that the main reasons for this are the increased selection in Ukrainian greenhouse farms and low demand.

Producers are facing large quantities of unsold products in warehouses due to the monthly increase in selection. To avoid excessive accumulation, they are forced to lower prices.

'We observe a significant increase in cucumber selection in all major greenhouse farms in the country, which, combined with low demand, creates an oversupply in the market,' report EastFruit analysts.

Currently, Ukrainian greenhouse farms continue to sell cucumbers from 45 to 75 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 42% less than last week.

Prices also depend on imported products from Romania. Importers who have stocks of Romanian cucumbers from last week have lowered their price to 25 hryvnias per kilogram.

Ukrainian greenhouse cucumber producers see no other way but to continue lowering prices, which are already 34% lower than in April last year.

As of today, the vegetable market in Ukraine continues to face an oversupply issue with cucumbers in greenhouses. This leads to further price declines in products and forces producers to seek solutions to reduce unsold stocks.
