New Mobile Shelters for Odesa's Beaches

According to Novyny.live: Ahead of the summer resort season, Odesa plans to install new mobile shelters on its municipal beaches. The city council's permanent commission on emergencies, ecology, and digital transformation has discussed the proposal to allocate approximately 35 million hryvnias for this project. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety in coastal areas.

Shelter Specifications and Planned Locations

The proposed shelters are certified to a new Ukrainian state standard (DSTU) that came into force in September 2025. Each unit is designed to accommodate between 50 and 100 people, providing a necessary level of safety for beachgoers. The cost for a single primary mobile shelter ranges from 5 to 7 million hryvnias. Potential locations identified for the new installations include sections of the coastline at:

  • Lanzheron
  • 13th Station of the Great Fountain
  • Other coastal areas

The city maintains responsibility for safety across the entire coastline, regardless of how the land is used. Installing these new shelters aims to significantly improve safety levels for visitors to Odesa's beaches. This reflects a broader regional focus on protecting civilians and maintaining essential services.

This measure is crucial for safeguarding both tourists and residents during the summer season, as ensuring safety in public spaces remains a top priority.

The deployment of new shelters will help the city adapt to changing conditions and preserve Odesa's appeal as a tourist destination, which could positively influence the region's economic development.
