One of the checkpoints on the border with Moldova will soon suspend operations.
At the "Rososhany-Briceni" checkpoint, located on the border with Moldova, on November 2nd, there will be a power outage, preventing customs control of citizens and transport. This is reported by the State Customs Service.
According to the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Chernivtsi Region, on November 2nd, power supply will be temporarily suspended at the "Rososhany-Briceni" checkpoint due to network maintenance work.
"During the work period, approximately from 09:00 to 21:00, customs control of citizens and customs clearance of vehicles will be halted," the customs office reported.
Let us recall that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a law on reforming the State Customs Service, which will come into force at the beginning of the next month.
The bill provides for:
- reorganization of customs based on the BEB model, agreed with international partners;
- a transparent contest for the head of the SCS (State Migration Service) involving international organizations;
- political independence of the head of the SCS: dismissal based on audit findings;
- re-certification of all employees within 18 months from the appointment of the new head;
- half of the members of the certification commissions for managerial positions are selected by international representatives upon recommendations from the business community;
- salary increases at the legislative level.
Notably, on May 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law restoring the powers of customs authorities to conduct document checks.
