Oil prices rise, eggs become cheaper: in May some supermarkets revised their prices.
Changes in prices for basic food products in May
According to the price monitoring as of May 6, 2025, prices for basic food products in leading Ukrainian supermarkets have noticeably increased compared to April. This is especially true for sunflower oil and chicken eggs.
The average price for refined sunflower oil (850 ml) rose from 77.03 UAH in April to 82.20 UAH in May, which is an increase of 6.7%. The highest price was recorded at the Novus chain – 84.49 UAH, while Auchan and Megamarket offered the price of 81.40 UAH.
At the same time, the 'Shchedry Dar' refined oil (850 ml) has almost not changed in price, increasing from 80.36 UAH to 80.66 UAH. Metro offers this product for 79.20 UAH.
Significant changes are also observed in the chicken egg market: chicken eggs 'Kvochka' (C1, 10 pcs) have decreased in price by 8% from 73.80 UAH to 67.90 UAH. These products are sold only at Auchan.
Eggs 'Yasensvit' of various packaging remained almost at the same level. A pack of 10 eggs costs on average 73.63 UAH, a pack of 18 eggs – 123.93 UAH, and a large pack of 30 eggs remains unchanged at 223.85 UAH.
The largest price difference in the egg category is observed between the chains Megamarket and Metro. A pack of 'Yasensvit' (30 pcs) in Megamarket costs 230.80 UAH, while in Metro it is 216.90 UAH.
The conducted research reflects the overall situation in the Ukrainian food market in May 2025.
