Singapore introduces harsh whipping punishment for cybercriminals.
Singapore introduces new penalties for online fraudsters
According to The Sun: Singapore plans to impose at least six lashes for individuals convicted of online fraud, the minister informed lawmakers.
“This mandatory punishment can reach up to 24 lashes in extreme cases,” the minister noted.
Shocking video footage has emerged online showing how offenders are apprehended and subjected to physical punishment. The necessity of implementing such strict measures is driven by the rise in online fraud cases, which lead to significant financial losses for citizens.
The new measures aim to halt fraudulent schemes and ensure greater security in the online space.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to combat cybercrime in Singapore. The country's authorities are trying to reduce risks for consumers and protect their financial interests, as online fraud has become a serious problem for many countries around the world.
