Heating Season Comes to an End Across Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's heating season is drawing to a close, with local authorities basing their decisions on daily average temperatures. The primary condition for ending heat supply is that the average daily temperature must exceed +8°C for three consecutive days. This weather-dependent approach allows municipalities to respond flexibly to changing conditions.

Several cities have already turned off their heating systems:

  • Dnipro shut off heat on March 20.
  • Kryvyi Rih followed on March 23.
  • Kherson also decided to conclude its heating period.
  • Mykolaiv will begin shutting down heating from March 24.
  • Lutsk made the call due to warming temperatures.
“If it gets colder, heating could be resumed even into mid-April.” — Oleksiy Kuleba

This underscores that local governments remain ready to adapt to weather fluctuations even after the official season ends. Meanwhile, Yuliia Svyrydenko stressed that Ukraine must urgently start preparing for the next heating season. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also ordered the development of resilience plans for cities and regions, highlighting the critical need for winter readiness.

The conclusion of the heating season marks a transition to spring and summer, but it also reinforces the importance of staying agile in response to weather shifts. In light of recent government statements, preparing for the upcoming winter has become a top priority, signaling potential energy sector challenges ahead. It is essential that local authorities continue monitoring weather patterns closely to ensure the comfort and safety of urban residents.
