OpenAI adds shopping feature to ChatGPT, challenging Google.
OpenAI is introducing a new feature to its intelligent agent ChatGPT - the ability to shop directly within the chat interface. Regardless of whether users are logged in, all users will be able to take advantage of this feature. However, the actual payment process for the goods will need to be completed on the seller's website.
According to Adam Fry, the product manager for ChatGPT search at OpenAI, the updated interface will help people find products like coffee machines or office chairs and receive recommendations based on their preferences and reviews from various sources online.
OpenAI's approach to shopping differs from Google Shopping. Search results in ChatGPT are organic rather than paid placements. The company aims to create a personalized and conversational shopping experience, focusing on user ratings and feedback.
Users will be able to prioritize certain types of reviews and receive recommendations that match their tastes. Product reviews are gathered from various online sources, such as forums and editorial publications.
OpenAI is striving to provide a convenient and personalized shopping tool that meets the preferences and needs of users. They offer the opportunity to select products and receive advice from various sources.
