Mass poisoning at a children's camp in Lviv region: 35 children hospitalized.
A mass poisoning occurred at a children's camp in the village of Slavske in the Stryi district of the Lviv region. Overnight on August 5, 25 people were hospitalized, and the number of victims later increased to 35.
This was reported by 'Suspilne Lviv' on Tuesday, August 5.
Poisoning at the children's camp - what is the condition of the victims
According to 'Susplne', it concerns the Friendly Camp.
It is noted that on August 4, the children began to complain of poor health: nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. They were hospitalized. They are currently in a moderate condition.
It is still unknown what the victims ate and what the cause was.
'From 01:00 to 03:00, children with symptoms of acute intestinal infection began to arrive to us. Increased temperature up to 38 degrees, multiple vomiting, some with five times, some children had more than 20 times, part of the children have diarrhea', - said Andriy Babiak, head of the infectious diseases department of the Stryi City Hospital.
The medical director of the Skole Central Hospital, Oksana Yaremko, reported that during the night, from 00:10 to 00:30, five children born in 2012 and 2014 were admitted to the infectious diseases department with complaints of nausea, vomiting, fever, and general weakness.
Investigation of mass poisoning
According to the Lviv regional prosecutor's office, the preliminary diagnosis of the hospitalized is acute intestinal infection. In total, there were 130 children in the camp from different regions.
In connection with the poisoning of children, investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for three years.
As part of the investigation, the food block, kitchen, dining room and pantry have been sealed for the purpose of ensuring additional examination of the scene with the participation of the laboratory of the State Consumer Service of the region.
A full investigation may take up to five days, the first results may be available tomorrow or in a few days, depending on the concentration of the pathogen in the samples. The condition of all other children in the camp is also being monitored, they have already been examined by doctors.
