Food Poisoning at a Restaurant in Lviv — What Could Be the Cause.


A mass food poisoning incident occurred at a catering establishment in Lviv, with many of the visitors hospitalized due to acute gastroenteritis, likely caused by salmonella.
Information from the Deputy Director of the Hospital
'Patients arrived in groups of four to five individuals in all departments of our hospital. Some of them were in moderately severe condition with a complicated course of acute gastroenteritis,' - explained Orfin.
Among the symptoms are fever, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. All the victims visited one catering place where they ate a variety of food, but all shared a dessert that nearly every guest had.
'The symptoms are similar to salmonellosis. It is possible that someone else affected may seek medical help,' - added the medic.
According to Orfin, it is important to establish the quantity of the product consumed by the affected individuals. It is worth noting that at the 'Chinese Greetings' restaurant, the owner compensates for the treatment of those affected by the poisoning. The Lviv police have started an investigation into this incident.
