The Canadian Parliament approved the allocation of nearly $600 million in military aid to Ukraine.
Ukraine will receive 587 million dollars from Canada for military assistance
The House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament has approved the allocation of 764 million Canadian dollars (about 587 million US dollars) for military assistance to Ukraine. These funds are included in a large budget document, the approval of which will allow the government to spend an additional 21 billion Canadian dollars on various purposes, including national defense, reports Ukrinform.
According to Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair, these funds will be used for 'ammunition, training, and other resources urgently needed by Ukrainians for victory.' The document also includes 400 million Canadian dollars for financial assistance to Ukraine, which is allocated from a special IMF account. In addition, Parliament approved 45 million Canadian dollars for 'humanitarian demining and strengthening cyber resilience in Ukraine.'
The increase in expenditures was approved by the House of Commons on the last legally permitted day. For this decision to take effect, it still needs to be voted on by the Senate of Canada, which is expected soon.
Since February 2022, Canada has already provided Ukraine with 5.4 billion US dollars in budget assistance, which is the highest figure in the world per capita.
