Crimea Locomotive Sabotaged by 'Atesh' Partisans, Disrupting Russian Supply Lines.
Sabotage Operation in Crimea
According to UATV: On March 18, 2023, members of the 'Atesh' partisan movement carried out a sabotage operation in occupied Crimea, disabling a locomotive at a railway station near Simferopol. The attack occurred just one day before the 12th anniversary of Russia's annexation of Crimea and successfully disrupted the delivery of ammunition and supplies intended for Russian forces operating on the Zaporizhzhia front.
Growing Partisan Activity
This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating operations by the 'Atesh' group. Just three days earlier, on March 15, they cut off power to a Russian brigade headquarters in Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk region. These coordinated actions highlight the increasing organization and resolve of the partisan movement, which continues to conduct missions deep inside occupied territory.
The growing frequency of such operations suggests that resistance activity in occupied areas is intensifying, potentially altering Russia's military calculations in the region. By taking out critical transportation assets, partisans are directly undermining Russian logistics and supply chains, which could have a significant impact on troop readiness. These efforts may also inspire further acts of defiance in other occupied zones, reflecting the enduring spirit of resistance among the local population.
